Labor Rights Researcher

We work towards increasing the transparency of supply chains and factory labor conditions in China, advocate for workers’ rights, and support the Chinese labor movement.

CLW is seeking applicants for a Researcher who will be responsible for researching and monitoring workers’ conditions in China, and documenting labor violations through online research and analysis. The Researcher will prepare special reports on the situation of China’s workers and on selected workers’ issues. The successful candidate should also expect to engage in some translation tasks as assigned.

Flexible work arrangements are negotiable. Remote work from home allowed during Covid-19. This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, but we encourage anyone who believes they would be a good fit for this position to apply.

Administrative Assistant

China Labor Watch is currently looking for an Administrative Assistant who will be able to perform the following tasks as well as contribute to realizing CLW’s broader goals:

  • Coordinate and maintain communications with external stakeholders on behalf of the Executive Director
  • Perform verbal and written translation between English and Chinese
  • Support and assist the CLW Researcher and Program Officer in their program management and execution; this may include conducting interviews or desk research to support program objectives
  • Manage the organization’s internal administration; this may include keeping track of financial expenses, updating grant files, and other tasks related to internal operations and grant management
  • Manage the CLW website and social media platforms
  • Managing and providing guidance to CLW interns

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, but we encourage anyone who believes they would be a good fit for this position to apply:

  • A demonstrated interest in and commitment to human rights and/or labor issues
  • Administrative experience
  • English to Chinese and Chinese to English translation experience
  • Experience managing social media for an organization
  • Fundraising experience
  • Research and interview experience
  • Familiarity with digital security and handling sensitive information
  • One or more years of experience working at an American NGO
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as law, humanities, sociology, political science, or other disciplines related to China Labor Watch’s mission
