Analysis
The increase of visits to the English and Chinese site may be China Labor Watch's constant outreach to the media and community during the past quarter. It may also be attributed to China 's previous incident of slave workers in Shangxi and Guangxi. The outbreak of this shocking news has seized the public attention; people are becoming increasingly concerned about labor rights in China . In addition, the constant news updates and reports released have also attracted more visitors to view CLW's websites. The increased number of visits on both the Chinese and English sites demonstrates that CLW continued to be seen as a reliable source to the public.
CLW reports are also one of the important aspects in gaining CLW's status thus the increase of public attention on labor rights issues in China . The report “A Report on Wal-Mart Suppliers in China ” has also encouraged Wal-Mart's Global Procurement to respond and arrange a meeting with CLW to discuss the improvements on their supplier factories in China .
Aside from the website and reports, media has played an important role in promoting workers' rights in China . CLW has become a significant asset to the international media that wish to inquire labors' situations in China . This quarter, Bastard Film, CNN, Radio Free Asia, and Voice of America have interviewed CLW.
As result of having success in promoting human rights China , CLW's work has continued to receive a broad attention from the academia, media, and also the business sectors that are concerned of labor problems in China . This quarter, Voice of America and Radio Free Asia have written articles after interviewing CLW executive director Li Qiang.
Another objective of CLW during the previous quarter was to increase interactions with other labor organizations. We believe that our ultimate goal of human rights protection cannot be accomplished by CLW alone, thus it would be a great contribution if CLW could work with other NGOs to remedy this matter. This quarter, CLW has contacted and cooperated with many organizations that are concered about labor rights in China.
In conclusion, the source of CLW's bilingual websites, reports, media, and collaboration with other NGOs has helped CLW to carry out its objective of pursuing human rights more effectively.
